Des Molloy has resurrected Penelope his 650cc Panther which he rode across nearly 20 countries in Central and South America. Des is a technical writer and presenter for the Building Research Association of NZ. He is an admitted dreamer who prefers to ride his bikes rather than polish them. Des’s old Norton being sought in Esfahan. was exchanged for three Persian carpets.

Dick Huurdeman is an internationally renowned motorcycle mechanic and tuner who will be riding his old war-horse the 600cc 19S Norton single. Although this particular bike has not traveled internationally, Dick has dipped its wheels in the ocean at all of NZ’s extremities. It is to Dick’s younger sister’s 70th birthday that we are riding.

And just look at the 1965 Panther - a single cylinder bike with two exhuast pipes. This bike, Penelope, was ridden from New Orleans to Buenos Aires in 1976.
