In the Footsteps of Zen 2006
Des Molloy's new adventure combines promoting the book and DVD of The Last Hurrah, with a replay of Robert Pirsig's 1968 trip from St Pauls, Minnesota to San Francisco. This journey of personal discovery, with his son Chris and neighbours John and Sylvia, featured in his multi-million selling book, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. ZAMM ignores the title and is not about motorcycle maintenance and for many is not an easy read, being more of a philosophical diatribe about the metaphysics of quality. Des recalls struggling to read it 30 years ago as he travelled South America. Now with maturity (many will laugh at this description) he hopes to gently read a chapter at a time, reflecting on that chapter whilst riding the roads that inspired it.

From Beijing to Arnhem 2005: Odyssey or Idiocy?
The Last Hurrah through Asia and Europe turned out to be an amazing and challenging adventure - two silly old fools riding two-wheeled museum pieces halfway across the world, thankfully with the resolute, staunch and above all young, fit and healthy Stephen along to support and film their efforts. Ultimately it proved to be a wonderfully successful three months, tempered by the occasional set-back including needing to seek medical assistance in four countries. They wanted the exotic... they got it in huge measures. They didn't achieve all their goals... but who cares.
